A Toast to Women!
Just a few days ago, March 8th to be exact, was International Women’s Day. And it isn’t just another day on the calendar—it’s a reminder to celebrate the women who are out there changing the game, especially in business. Because let’s be real, the corporate world wasn’t exactly designed with women in mind. And yet, here we are, building empires, making millions, and proving that leadership isn’t about gender—it’s about vision, grit, and knowing when to take a risk.
We are all familiar with The Greats who have impacted the entire world in various ways (Rosa, Martha, Oprah, Princess Di, etc.). But what about women who have changed the world in a different way that maybe seems slightly more achievable? First, let’s talk about a woman who flipped the beauty world on its side:
Emily Weiss – The Beauty Disruptor
If you’ve ever scrolled through Instagram or TikTok and ended up buying a lipstick, there’s a good chance Emily Weiss had something to do with it. She started Glossier in 2014 with a simple but powerful idea: beauty should be fun, effortless, and made for real people. Unlike the old-school beauty brands that dictated trends, Glossier let customers be part of the conversation. The result? A cult-favorite company worth over a billion dollars, all built on the idea that beauty isn’t about perfection—it’s about self-expression.
Or how about this woman, who changed online dating forever:
Whitney Wolfe Herd – The Dating Disruptor
If you’ve ever been on a dating app and thought, I really don’t like this. Why is it always the same old thing?—Whitney Wolfe Herd had the same thought. After co-founding Tinder and leaving due to a toxic work environment, she decided to flip the script. She launched Bumble, the app where women make the first move, putting power back in their hands.
But she didn’t stop at dating. Under her leadership, Bumble expanded into business networking and friendships, proving that connection—whether romantic, professional, or personal—works better when women have control. Then, in 2021, she became the youngest woman yet to take a company public, casually ringing the NASDAQ bell with her baby on her hip. If that’s not the definition of boss energy, I don’t know what is.
International Women’s Day isn’t just about looking back—it’s about recognizing the women who are shaping the future right now. So here’s to Emily and Whitney, and every other woman making moves in business JUST LIKE YOU ARE. Because if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s this: the future is female, and it looks pretty damn unstoppable.

Teacher's Note
Good morning, girlz!
Greetings on this fine Tuesday! Today, I invite you to ignite your imagination and delve into crafting your own tale. Not only do you need a story for yourself, but also a collection of narratives for your newsletter, ready to intertwine with any topic you choose to explore. To help you embark on this creative journey, here's a story framework to spark your inspiration. We will introduce other story frames in later editions and we'll delve deeper into this one within our community soon, so if you haven't joined yet, here's your invitation.
Story Framework:
1. Introduce the protagonist, our Hero.
2. The Hero encounters a challenge and embarks on a quest, only to face a villain determined to derail their path.
3. Along the way, the Hero meets a mentor who guides them toward a revelation, an epiphany bridge.
4. The mentor offers a plan, a clear strategy to conquer the challenge and outsmart the villain.
5. The Hero experiences triumph and transformation—or perhaps stumbles, only to rise again and achieve victory.
I hope to see your beautiful faces at Lipstick Hour! 💄
Sincerely,
Ms. G
Which color are you?
According to Color Code©, people who are RED are motivated by power, though maybe not the kind of power you might think of initially.
Reds are the power wielders. They have the ability to move from point A to point B and get things done. This is what motivates and drives them. They bring great gifts of vision and leadership and generally are responsible, decisive, proactive and assertive. Do you know any reds? Are you a red yourself? Or how does red play into your personality profile?
