Reminder: Our weekly Lipstick Hour is today at 2 PM on Zoom.
Be there…or be square. 😉😉
Social media. Ugh. Am I right?
Scrolling along, looking for something—a spark, a laugh, some kind of connection. Maybe a new thing to shake you out of the doldrums. Maybe just a quick distraction before the next task.
And sure, sometimes you find a post that hits. But most of the time? It’s noise. It’s superficial. It’s forgettable.
That’s where newsletters come in.
No algorithm. No chaos. Just real words from real people, landing straight in your inbox. Like a note from a friend.
You don’t have to be an influencer or a great writer. You just need something to say—and someone who wants to hear it.
🛠️ Tools of the Trade
(aka: How to Start Without Getting Overwhelmed)
If you’re anything like some people (cough me cough), your browser (and probably your brain, too) is juggling a million things—shopping, that home improvement project you’re planning, cool new things to learn about, potentially helpful websites that you “need” to read, collections of images and ideas that inspire you. And how are you going to make all that work AND feed it into your newsletter? Feeling overwhelmed yet? Yep.
It’s easy to feel like you need to have it all figured out before you start - like you need a system, a degree, or a plan with bullet points and color-coded highlights. But honestly? You don’t. If we waited until all that was in place and perfected, we’d never start at all.
You just need a solid platform, a few basic tools, and a comfortable-for-you spot to collect your thoughts.
🧠 Planning
Notion, Trello, or Google Docs – for brain dumps, voice notes, lists of links, random inspiration at 2 AM.
Heck, even your favorite pen 🖋 and a solid notebook will do.
Honestly? Anything that helps you get your ideas out of your head and onto “paper.”
🎨 Design & Layout
Canva – for headers, graphics, or creative extras (totally optional—but who doesn’t love the perfect visual to set the mood?).
Beehiiv – clean templates, easy drag-and-drop vibes, and a built-in database of free photos and graphics. 📷 Built for creators, not corporations.
📬 Sending It Out (aka the main event)
Beehiiv (yep, again) – it’s our favorite.
Beginner-friendly, but also powerful when you want to level up.
Built-in growth tools, smart analytics to see how you’re doing, and it just looks good.
📈 Tracking Growth (without the stress)
Beehiiv shows open rates, clicks, and subscriber stats—all in one dashboard.
If you go with another platform, check if it makes that kind of info easy to access and understand.
Grow at your own pace (no pressure… except maybe the pressure you put on yourself 😉😉).
So that’s it. No magic formula, no gatekeeping. Just start where you are, use what you’ve got, and say what only you can say.
Your newsletter doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be yours.

Hey Girlz!
Can you believe it? Another week has zoomed by faster than a cat on a Roomba! 🏍 So, here's the thing: it’s time to start your newsletter. Now.
If you don’t start, this is what happens to the money you could be earning - it’s going to fly right by your pocketbook instead of tucking itself in. 💸💸 (Look at that lovely money just flying away!)
What’s stopping you? Is it nerves? Fear? Well…let me tell you a little tale of woe and procrastination. Picture this: over two years ago, I was all set to launch my first newsletter (not this one)…📰
I wanted it to be perfect—🦄 unicorns-and-rainbows perfect. I spent weeks (okay, months) planning, dreaming, and planning some more. I even made it look so pretty that it could win a beauty pageant. But guess what? That's as far as it got. Ever been there in your biz?😬
I was terrified no one would subscribe.
I didn't want to look like a clueless potato 🥔, and I thought if my newsletter wasn't flawless, I'd be the laughingstock of the internet.
I spent way too much time drooling over other people's newsletters, thinking, "Ugh, I can't do this. Mine will look like a toddler's finger painting compared to theirs." But here's the kicker: everyone starts from zero 0️⃣. Even those newsletter wizards 🧙I was stalking.
You've got a story to tell and something to sell, so let's get cracking! Use one of Michelle's magical tools and just start. What did my procrastination cost me? I’ll never know what I lost by not launching it. I didn’t publish a single article for that biz. Ouch!
Fast forward to now, and we are on newsletter number four for skool girlz newz. Is it perfect? Nope. Will it get better? You bet your sweet bippy!
Next year, there'll be a treasure trove of stories, lessons, and success tales from clients just like you. So, if you haven't started yet, click this link to Beehiiv and set up an account. No excuses, girlz! It's free to start, and what do you have to lose? Time, money, opportunities? That’s bad for biz.
Weekly Assignment:
Once your account is set up, let's have a 🧠brain dump party! 🎉
No formalities—just sit down, set a timer for 15 minutes, and let your brain spill its guts about your newsletter topic.✍🏼
If you're part of the kool girlz club 💄(skool girlz community), head over there and share two subjects you extracted from your noggin. Not a member yet? Join the fun here!
Remember, if you write it, they will come.
So go get your writing groove on!
Sincerely,
Ms. G
Which color are you?
Ever wonder why your bestie needs a plan for everything... while you just want to vibe? Or why group projects feel like herding cats? That’s the ColorCode theory in action.
It’s a personality framework that breaks people down into Reds (power), Blues (intimacy), Whites (peace), and Yellows (fun)—and once you get the basics, it lowkey changes how you see everyone.
Start spotting patterns in conversations, texts, even TikTok comments. It’s like getting a cheat code for understanding people—and yourself.
